I met my best friend while I was at university. He was in the same class. At first, he scolded me for leaning back on my chair but, after a while, we began to become good friends. I used to meet him regularly at an Internet café. He went there regularly. We would spend hours there together. He would always lend a hand to me because I didn’t know much about computers at that time. He’s a humble guy, never shows off his knowledge, even though he can. He’s sincere and doesn’t mind mildly scolding you or even himself in all the same sentence. . He is usually very sociable, but sometimes he can also be a bit shy. He is good at soccer and volleyball and used to be on the school team. He’s quite muscular and his hair is frizzy. He has very droopy eyes, like a puppy and a very wide mouth.I think the main reason we are such good friends is because we have a lot in common and we both have the same kind of humour. We also always support each other whenever we need help. I think we are such good friends because we don’t feel we ever have to pretend around each other, and we are really helpful to one another. I will miss this guy a lot if I go overseas but since he is always at the internet café, I can email him, and he’s probably right there to receive it!

I think the main advantages of becoming a celebrity are earning lots of money and receiving special treatment wherever you go.

I would imagine that if you’re a celebrity you get extra special VIP service wherever you go.

I’m sure celebrities don’t have to stand in line like normal people do. In addition, I’m sure if you’re a celebrity, you get many things for free as a form of advertising.

In my opinion, the main disadvantage of becoming a celebrity is the lack of privacy.

Everywhere you go, whatever you do, there are people looking at you and taking photographs of you.

This must feel very intrusive, especially if you don’t look your best or you’re not feeling well.

Describe a historical period that you are interested inYou should say:What the historical period isHow you know itWhat happened during that periodWhy you find it interestingSpeaking of a period of history that I fond of,I would like to talk something about the Middle age. Life in the Middle Ages was completely different than we see it today. Some reflections of life of that period are found in cinemas but most of them are unrealistic. They are filled with fantasies. The real life in the Middle Ages was filled with classifications and the feudal system dominated the entire society. And most importantly, people were superstitious to a great extent. This is a very smart candidate task card and I am happy to have it in my share. In some terms, living in the Middle Ages was beneficial. Life was not so much complicated as it is found today. People used to live near nature. And there were fewer traffic congestions in the streets. Though the streets remained crowded round the day, there were no troubles among the pedestrians and people used to live in their own way. Minding the own business was the key task. The other important benefit was that they did not think so much about the career or about the other silly issues that matter most in the present day.But there were some drawbacks as well. The classification was the most important obstacle of this age. People were classified into various groups and the noblemen used to dominate the poorer section of the society. The scope of entertainment was limited and the lower parts of the society had no or little access to such activities. The daily life in this age was the subject of wealth and power.I would like to have lived in that period of time. In fact, a fascination works in me about that age. I have seen numerous events in movies and got addicted to the age. So, I want to travel in the streets with a dimmed lantern with me and enjoy the views around. Life began even before history was recorded. Human civilization has changed during the course of time and experienced different ages. This cue card question asks to describe how life was in particular period of history and here are some other hints to start the answer.1. Life in the Stone Age was tough for humans. They did not have modern tools to live on. Hunting was the key profession of people. They used stones to hunt animals to be served as foods. The age is also pided into several periods and it is thought that socialization began at this age.2. The invention of mathematics was the best achievement in Bronze Age. The Age is named so due to the rise of bronze tools. People of this age started using bronze-made tools in their everyday life. This is a major age in human history.3. Application of iron-made materials began in the Iron Age. This is an important age in the expansion of human history. People in this age started using iron massively as this metal was far durable than the other types of tools and instruments in their life. Most of the technological advancement took place in this age.4. The civilization of ancient Egypt plays an important role in human history. The duration of this civilization was between 3000 to 300 BCE beside the Nile. The age is remarkable for the technological, military, cultural and religious advancement. Pharaohs controlled the states and now we have their relics in pyramids.5. A large part of the world was under the domination of Roman empire during the 1st century. Christianity appeared in this century and it gave birth to many other political and religious events. Expansion of literature was a remarkable achievement in this age.

一、定语从句经典系列 ①(名词或代词) is the kind of (person/place/thing…) who (which/that) is… ②(名词或代词) is a (person/ place…) who (which) gives you the impression of being… ③(名词或代词)is one of the most (形容词) (名词) I have ever seen/met/known. ④(地点名称) is a place where you can do sth. ⑤(时间名词) is a day (occasion/the time) when you do sth. He is truly helpful. a. He is the kind of guy who is truly helpful. b. He always gives others the impression of being someone who is truly helpful. Suzhou is ancient but also modern. a. Suzhou is the kind of city which gives you the impression of being both ancient and modern. b. Suzhou is a place where you can appreciate both the ancient culture and modern city lifestyle. The film is interesting.a. This is one of the most interesting films I have ever seen. b. This is the kind of movie which blows your mind. The party is exciting. a. This is the most exciting party I have ever attended. b. It’s a party that I will remember for the rest of my life. On the weekend, I relax myself by reading.Weekends are the time when I relax myself by reading. What kinds of things make you laugh? A score of 7 can definitely make me laugh.

It was time very well spent.Built in 1930, the 78-year-old building is located on the central of downtown and is a typical classical architecture in a European style. The theater’s classical European architecture makes it one of the most famous architectural and cultural heritages sites in Shanghai. Music performed here is usually ’classical’ music, although there are exceptions. The acoustics are so fantastic that many world-famous artists have been attracted to perform in this hall, including violinists maestro Isaac Stern, Salvatore Accardo, Choliang Lin and cellists Yoyo Ma; pianists Alieda de Larrocha, FU Chong, YING Chunzhong as well as the Philadelphia Chamber Orchestra and many others have given high appraisals after giving their successful concerts here. I was very impressed by the atmosphere and intimacy of the hall. The sound is clear, full-bodied, and clean for every vocal part and the mix is perfect. Even without microphones, every one of the nearly 2,000 members in the audience could hear the speech given by conductor. With its stunning architecture, advanced facilities and modern management, the center will be the crowning jewel of Shanghai’s many performing venues. Not to be missed!!! Where it is The Shanghai Concert Hall is located in a park between People’s Square and the shopping street of Huaihai Lu - when I first came to Shanghai, I lived just around the corner. What kind of music is performed there Built in 1930 and originally called the Nanking Theatre, this concert hall holds regular concert mainly from international music troupes. Why people go there The project cost 150 million yuan (18.1 million US dollars) and is the largest among similar endeavors made by the east China metropolis. Many widely known musical celebrities such as conductor Tang Muhai and Zhang Guohai started their careers here.It echoes from the ghosts of many many many great artists who performed thereAnd explain your impressions of this place The concert hall is decorated with marble pillars, Roman chandeliers and other architectural designs.Sixteen huge marble pillars are seen when audiences step into the lobby, and the front hall is deliberately ornamented with elegant patterns of slightly solemnized color, which is very much in harmony with the music played inside. Most notably, there’s a large television jumbotron on a nearby building. It plays commercials, and there’s speakers lying about to play the commercial’s sound at night. Kind of annoying, really.2008年雅思口语新话题卡解析(二):MagazineDescribe an interesting magazine. And, I’m 100% sure they were not normal Ducks. It was ’in the wild’ and free to fly off whenever it wanted to!The male mandarin duck is way more colorful, his breast is purple with two vertical white bars and the flanks ruddy, with two orange “sails” at the back. The female is similar to female Wood Duck, all dark green brown. Male Mandarin ducks are considered by many to be the most beautifully colored of all waterfowl. In China, the mandarin duck is associated as a Chinese weddings symbol, because it symbolizes wedded bliss and fidelity. A Chinese proverb for loving couples uses the Mandarin Duck as a metaphor: “Two mandarin ducks playing in water”. Mandarin ducks are always depicted in a pair – it is said that if the ducks were separated, they would pine for each other and die of loneliness. Dying of loneliness for love might only be a romantic myth and a cheerful reflection of people’s attitude to reality.Anyway, I love these lovely creatures; I wish I could raise one.2008年雅思口语话题卡解析(五):new or exciting thingDescribe a new or exciting thing that you did recently. You should say:* what it was ①* when you did it②* who you did it with③ and explain why this activity was new or exciting for you.④关于这个话题卡,考察的是事件题的描述,口述一次经历的能力。 Skydiving jumpSkydiving jump. It was the first adventurous activity ever in my life. We made it last summer. It was a nice sunny day when we went to skydive. We took a 6 hour course and were ready to subdue the sky I went for it with my class mates. I was a little afraid before my first skydiving jump, but my class mates encouraged and convinced me to do it. Crickey!!!! It was fantastic! I can’t express all the feelings of free flight. It was the combination of happy, frightened, excited, and satisfied. All of these feelings happened at the same time. I could see the Earth below me as I flew like a bird with my parachute. I remember I was flying my body with my friends and was building different formations in the sky. Unfortunately I finally landed in the tree, but it was a smooth landing. I wasn’t hurt at all. That was a good lasting memory and all I can think about now is when I would be able to skydive again.Part 3:New & Exciting ActivitiesSome people think that it’s good to experience new things, such as exploring new places. Do you agree?Yes without a doubt. Life is boring if you never encounter or try new things. People will never know what’s really out there unless you explore. I went to Egypt last summer, which was a totally new place to me. The civilization of Egypt did broaden my horizon. What qualities does one need in order to be an explorer? To be an explorer, one should be brave, cautious, friendly and open-minded. The ability to pick up local customs and language easily is also important.Do you think young people can handle new experiences and new activities better than old people?I will say Yes, for the most parts. Seniors usually prefer comfort and to dwell in what they have built for themselves, including daily routine. That’s what we called: falling into a rut. Young people like to keep on trying and learning new things as they can adapt well.2008年雅思口语话题卡解析(六):Traditional EventDescribe an important traditional event in your hometown. You should say: what this event is. when it happens. who participates in this event, what they do.and explain how you feel about this event. Professional workers like doctors, nurses and teachers make a greater contribution to society and so should be paid more than sports and entertainment personalities. To what extent do you agree or disagree? It seems that, in this society, professional workers are improving the productivity and providing direct service to others, while celebrities in sports and entertainment are not making such contributions. Therefore, some people claim a higher pay for the former over the latter. However, I would show my disagreement to their statement for the following reasons. Professional workers do not contribute so much to society as celebrities in person. Any single worker in the professional field is not able to bring the happiness to such a large population as a famous person in sports or entertainment does. Also, an individual professional employee cannot similarly bring glories to the country and enhance people’s sense of belongings to the nation. Otherwise, if they can, their payment will not be less. Unlike the talents in celebrities that are invaluable, the abilities of professional workers, such as doctors, nurses and teachers can be trained and copied. An ordinary person can be educated or trained to be engaged in those professional jobs, but not so many can be taught to play basketball so well as Yaomin and dance so gracefully as Jackson. Besides, the lack of a professional worker can be soon replaced by another one, while the loss of a celebrity may result in the limit of development in a certain field. Admittedly, due to the large population of people working in professional fields and the direct service people receive from them, they may seem, at least superficially, be more closely related to the improvement of the life level of the public. However, in this information age when people are attaching more importance to their spiritual life and easier in obtaining information needed, the value produced by professional workers is not so high as that brought by the celebrities. To sum up, I do not agree with the idea for professional workers to earn a higher salary than the sports and entertainment personalities. Only when a man’s value is measured by his overall contribution to society, can every field in the world be developed to its full.

What kinds of things make you laugh? Being with parents is the very thing that can make me laugh. 算下来,there are only 20 days we can REALLY be with our parents in the following 4 YEARS!!! 每一个留学的孩子在假期结束时,都会以分、以秒来计算和家人相处的时间,因为一旦走出海关,登上飞机,自己面前的是又一个长达9个月的分别……So this laughter is not just the sound “ha-ha”, it is a feeling of happiness, a sense of safety, a true emotion from the bottom of our heart, which can be found ONLY when we are home. A score of 7 can definitely make me laugh. The reason why a 7 can make me laugh is because it is not only a score, it symbolizes my achievement in English study. It means I didn’t make effort in vain! Not to exaggerate, a 7 in IELTS for me is like a Nobel Price for those scientists! Maybe now it IS a daydream, but I bet it WON’T be long for me to get a real 7, coz I believe No Pains, No Gains. Meeting someone special can make me laugh. 然后,你可以大大方方地把话题转到a singer, a host/presenter, an actor/actress, a teacher, a neighbor…… PLACE:Reading an old letter/Seeing a photo can make me laugh coz it reminds me of my sweet memory when I was ……
