首先我们需要提交美国大学招生办要求的推荐信选项，绝大部分情况下学校会要求申请者所在高中的升学指导（college counselor）以及1-2位学术领域的任课老师提交推荐信。这是基本要求，切不可忽视。扎扎实实请学校的老师写好高质量的推荐信是雪中送炭，其他方面再提交的额外推荐信（additional recommendation）是锦上添花。如果是国内体制的重点中学，没有升学指导，那么学校的校长、教导主任或者班主任也可以充当这个角色。如果学生的推荐信由外教老师完成，则需要再三确认以下因素：1、这位老师是否真的对你非常欣赏。在申请过程中大学会让申请者选择是否“放弃阅读自己老师推荐信的机会”，这个选项请大家一定要选择“是”。事关文化观念问题，选择放弃阅读则显示了对推荐老师的尊重和推荐信的真实可靠性。因此，大部分情况下你是看不到老师写的推荐信内容的，只有极个别情况下这位老师非常友好又跟你关系密切可能会征询你的意见，但是是非常小概率事件。所以，如果选择了一位并不是很认可自己的老师来写推荐信是相当有风险的，我们曾经有学生在被大学拒绝之后反复向招生办求证，得知很大一部分原因来自于某一个有过龃龉的老师的推荐信，追悔莫及。2、这位老师所授科目与你想申请的专业有什么关系在保证第一条要求的前提下，可以关注专业的关联度。最好是直接有联系，比如申请心理学专业的学生邀请AP心理学老师，申请商科的学生邀请Alevel商业的老师，申请艺术类专业的学生可以邀请IB 视觉艺术的老师来撰写推荐信，能够非常明确地点明你在这个专业领域的天赋和努力。如果没有直接挂钩的科目那么至少选择有关系的，比如想申请工程专业的学生可以选择物理老师，申请新闻专业的学生可以选择英语文学的老师。总之要能够在推荐信、课外活动、学术选课等等方面来体现自己对追求这个学术兴趣已经做了充分的准备和前期工作。3、如何让这位老师用丰满的事实来凸显你的特质我们在申请过程中，常常要帮学生挖掘“推荐信素材”。很多学生不理解，这不是老师的工作吗，为什么他们写推荐信还需要我花心思。事实上每个学校每个学生的情况不同，很多时候一所高中可能只有几个升学指导，要去帮助上百个学生。有些外教老师因为学生可能在课堂表现和成绩上没有特别突出，就对学生不是很了解。甚至我们还遇到过非常热情的外籍老师，但是因为是第一年加入工作，完全不知道怎么写出有血有肉的推荐信，幸好学生有机会可以跟老师深入沟通和讨论才避免了无谓的“非战斗减员”。美国高中不少学校在填写推荐信申请表的时候会附上一张“brag sheet”（吹牛单），要求学生把自己各方面的特长和经历都详细罗列，便于老师结合到推荐信当中去，这也是比较常见的采集信息的做法。当然更有针对性的素材来自于学生给老师专门撰写的介绍自己情况的email。我们往往会跟学生反复挖掘，在老师课上获得哪些灵感，有什么独立研究项目或者assignment（大作业）让自己燃起了对这个领域的兴趣，在相关的课外活动中有怎样突出的表现，甚至会附上自己在课外做的一些研究和学术论文的附件供老师参考。这样一封翔实的介绍邮件本身已经帮推荐信作者提供了大量素材，不但老师愿意给你提供帮助，你也可以比较有把握地将各个方面的申请材料多维度又统一地为自己建立起“申请者档案”。至于很多家长考虑的“额外推荐信”，有时候也可以发挥一些出其不意的能效。总体来说，给你写推荐信的人需要符合两个标准： 1、对你真正熟悉和有过交集； 2、在符合第一个条件的情况下，有着具有特色的背景；很多家庭在选择推荐者的时候，未能正确对待这两个条件的优先级。如果一位推荐信作者对学生本人不熟悉甚至从来没见过面，只是因为跟家长有交情而给孩子写了泛泛而谈的推荐信，有经验的招生官可以轻易地识别出来。在这种情况下不但对申请没有益处，甚至可能因为这个学生享受了家庭资源的特权，反而给他增加不必要的压力。当然只有一种特殊情况下找名人写推荐信的方法是可以成立的，就是这是一位真正非常有实，甚至可以对这所大学造成一定影响的推荐者，比如某个国家的总统。如果学生可以拿到这个级别的推荐信，那么恭喜你，具体申请哪个大学并不重要，你很有可能因为背景特殊而被这所学校招募。但很多时候问题在于家长眼里的“名人”与美国文化里的“重要人物”有很大差距。被中国社会所熟识的明星、某些看似高级别的政要、某个医院的院长……在很多美国大学的认知范畴内并不能达到重磅推荐的要求。

理论上是可意找大一的老师写的。自然是要找最了解你的老师。如果外教与你比较熟的话，他们写的推荐信比较专业也比较有可信度吧。你要先跟老师交流啊，看他们是否愿意。
推荐信这东西，就是你自己打印好，然后去找老师签个字而已！我当时就是找的我们院长签的字！院长一般都是教授，所以比较好！！
